I haven't posted for some long time, I know. Nevertheless - here I am.
This is the last day of the Copenhagen Conference. Have world leaders agreed on anything effective, lasting and worthwhile? We'll see. This short poem was written at the beginning of the talks, for Saturday Live. It was also poached, I'm pleased to discover, by BBC's The World Today.

Copenhagen/Copenhaagen

approaching Copenhaagen
we’re all hoping that they’ll harken
to the Wave and cut the carbon
but will they hide behind their jargon
strike another dodgy bargain
let the seas rise and skies darken
on the road from Copenhaagen

or

when they get to Copenhagen
will they be both stirred and shaken
will they do something surprising
look beyond the near horizon
take a road as yet untaken
while we still can,
from Copenhagen

and whether your Copen is haagen or hagen
here’s hoping…
