I wouldn't normally post something of mine above my last one but this website is like a ghost town and nobody is posting any poems, so why not? I knew I was getting old when I started fancying the women in the "Healthspan" catalogue for supplement...

I was listening to the Radio 4 news today when the newsreader tripped over a word, saying, "....the misuse of jugs" instead of "drugs". It got me thinking. The misuse of jugs by Rob Barratt    Vase Ostrich-sized egg cup Generously optimist...

Dear all, I've always been amused by shop name signs that lose letters, thereby forming new words. In Liskeard the old Safeway used to read "AFEWAY" or SAFEWY". Whilst driving past the same store (now Morrisons) a few weeks ago I imagined a worl...

A Love Letter to Cow '52'
Posted at 12:11 PM on Aug 04, 2009
I really enjoyed this, Chris. Very funny. I hope you'll find a way of being happy together. Cows are very lovable aren't they? And, as you say, if the smell and chewing isn't an issue....... I once found happiness with chickens. Yes, a harem of them, but I had to let them go when I moved out of my family home. I gave them to a mate of mine but the fox got them. Love hurts.

A relief of sorts.

Hello Ian. I agree with Chris and Matt. Good stuff. If somethings got to be written, it's got to be written. And if nobody else is going to write it that means you have to. I think.

Bad Jobs

Dear Matt,

Young maybe, but recognisably Matt Harvey and very funny. I like the keywords list for it too. It reads like the beginning of a poem of excrement words. It reminds me of an alternative version of the opening sequence of "Are you being served" when they list all the departments. Maybe someone could continue the list with other excrement words, or maybe you'd run out.

Bad Poetry

Nice one, Liv. Did it last? Did it affect your poetry or creativity? It would appear not, as you are going strong. I've been happier during the last few years ( though with successive girlfriends or happily on my own) than for many and it's coincided with me starting writing poems and songs for performance and really enjoying it. So maybe you don't need angst-ridden loneliness to be able to write. Spit-roast ? Blow? Have I been missing out on something? All the best.

Big Brothers

Excellent, Chris. Very evocative. It made me think of my little brother who died aged 2 days when I was 7. No medical solution for "blue babies" in 1961. Luckily I had a good older sisters to play with and good mates too.
